TIWC Activities and Cultural Groups
The TIWC promotes fellowship and cultural appreciation by cultivating an interchange for its
members. Once a month the fact finding General meetings are held. All members are invited to share their fellowship and to participate in the planned activities of that particular
meeting.
At the first General meeting of the Club’s year, being September, some
interest group activities are offered to the
members. The members themselves organize all of these activities under the direction of the first Vice President and are subject to change from year to
year. Some are led by experts in their fields. For instance, following interest
groups were ever organized:
Chinese Calligraphy: The members are invited to learn more about the Chinese style of
writing, its history and importance it serves in the life of the Chinese.

Chinese Painting: For those who wish to express themselves in Art and wish to learn how to paint the Chinese
way.
Choir: The TIWC choir has a fine reputation in Taipei. The members devote their time learning songs in many different
languages. They participate in many different events throughout the year. All are welcome to
join.
English Classes: English classes are offered to the members for those who want to improve
their English ability.
Flower Arranging: Different styles of Flower arranging were offered. The most popular are the Japanese Ikebana and the Chinese Style. Artificial flower making is sometimes
available.

Gastronomy Classes: Cuisine from different countries, but the most popular is Chinese Cooking and
Garnishing.

Make-Up Class: All women enjoy improving their looks. This class is designed for the members to learn different techniques of applying makeup and improving their skin care
methods.

The National Palace Museum Seminars: TIWC has collaborated with the National Palace Museum of the ROC in arranging a ten-week seminar each
year. The seminars include a tour and the history of the Museum with a professional
guide. Detailed lectures have been given covering the areas of Chinese Bronze
Age, Chinese jade, porcelain, textiles and fabrics, clothing of the Emperors, symbols used by the
Chinese, Chinese miniature boxes, jewellery, and other topics. A professional of each field presents the
lecture. It's a pity that such seminar is no longer available. (Click here to see

Sports and Keep Fit Activities: TIWC encourage its members to keep in
fit. Different activities in the past and present have included golf, badminton, hiking Tai
Chi, classic and folklore dancing classes. TIWC also ever participated in the Terry Fox Run against
cancer.
Language Teas: Language teas were held once a month which members wishing to converse in their own native language or practice a foreign language
were
welcomed. These teas used to be held in German, English, Spanish, Japanese, Thai,
Indonesian, French, and Chinese and are thoroughly enjoyed by all participants. The venues and times vary from month to
month. Some of the language teas are changed from year to year, depending of the make up of the club
members. Now due to less foreign members only the Japanese Tea and Chinese
