Two Chinese Operas, "General Yang Visiting His Mother'' and "The Ten Beauties" performed by members of the Taipei International Women's Club highlighted this year's TIWC Chinese New Year Party which was held yesterday afternoon at the Mandarin Hotel in Taipei.
The operas, to be presented in April, were given a preview on this special occasion.
"Every technique takes long I hours of practise", explained Mrs. Rosaline Yuan, TIWC president.
The parly was chaired by Mrs. Margaret Lee and attended by more than 400 members of the club. The program also included Chinese New Year foods and Hewers by Dr. Lilian Chao, Rong Shing Children's Chorus performing 10 songs, a tea party, a business meeting and a raffle.
Since the Chinese New Year is the most important holiday of the year in the Republic of China, traditionally, TIWC members hold a party to celebrate the occasion together, and especially invite Western friends.
