Message from LIVIA YU

The Chinese calendar is full of holidays. A single month can provide 2 or 3 occasions for celebration. Some holidays are more important than others. But the Chinese New Year, which has been celebrated for five thousand years, is by far the most festive and the most important. It signals the end of winter and the coming of spring.

The holiday goes on for days and days. But the first five days are the main event. The daily flow of life comes to a halt as everyone celebrates the beginning of a new year.

We ladies of the Taiwan International Women's Club are richly blessed. We have such wonderful opportunities to learn about each other and all the different cultures, plus lend our helping hands to the community. Where in the world can you celebrate New Years twice in the first two months of the year? Also this month is a Western holiday, Valentine Day. So you see, we have the best of both worlds.

Meanwhile, just to let all of you know that things are going very well with our many activities and projects. I am happy to report our main charity fund-raising event of the year, our Gala, is going to be such a wonderful event. We still need your support to reach our Goal.

See you at the Gala!
